IASCO RESINAL
is a high quality Polyester Laminating Resin
for use with fiberglass, fillers, or extenders.
Resinal is excellent for use in the construction
or repair of many projects including:boats, cars,

Catalyze with MEKP CATALYST
in the ratio of
12 drops of catalyst per ounce of resin (as a general rule) at 77º F.

Wax surfacing agent (for a tack free finish) has been added to RESINAL WW1
while no wax has been added to RESINAL WOW2,
making WOW2 ideal for multiple laminations with less surface preparation between layers.

Gel time can be as little as 5 minutes, so mix small batches and apply at once.

GEL COTE

Gel Cote is a factory thickened and filled polyester resin used to form a hard, tough, colored
layer of resin in a mold before the fiberglass is laid up. The layers of a project commonly are:
1) Mold surface, 2) Release agent, 3) Gel Cote, 4) Fiberglass mat & resin
(3/4 oz. weight mat to start) 5) Heavy fiberglass mat (1-1/2 or 2 oz. mat & resin).

GEL COTE APPLICATION:
Gel Cote must be applied to a thickness between 1/16 to 1/32 of an inch thick,
using 12 drops of catalyst per ounce of gel cote, mixed well and applied with
a natural bristle brush. The gel cote once applied must be kept at 77º F or higher
for 24 hours or more to ensure a complete cure of the material. IF the gel cote is
undercured, spots on the surface may prune up (also called alligator or orange peel)
when you apply the next layer (of fiberglass and resin) in the lamination.

SPRAYING GEL COTE
Gel Cote may be sprayed using special equipment. A standard paint spray gun will not work.
Gel Cote must retain it's viscosity in order to stick to the vertical and near vertical surfaces
of your mold. If you thin the Gel Cote to push it through a standard spray gun, it may be too
thin to sustain a grip and merely pool in the bottom of the mold. Better way:Use a material
gun with a large orifice and if necessary thin the gel cote only with styrene monomer (1-3%).

COLORING GEL COTE
IASCO GEL COTE may be colored using IASCO RESINAL PIGMENTS
in a maximum ratio of 2 jars pigment per gallon of gel cote. White or Translucent
(natural - no pigment) Gel Cote may be pigmented, with the white offering a greater
opacity but a pastel hue. Special Clear Gel Cote is used to achieve a metal flake
finish using metallic glitter sparingly in a second cote of clear gel after a clear layer in the mold.

MEKP CATALYST

IASCO CATALYST MEKP is an organic peroxide oxidizing agent with active oxygen.
MEKP has a shelf life of about 6 months when stored in a cool, dry, dark place. When
the shelf life has expired, the material may become less active than previously experienced and
require a higher ratio of catalyst to resin OR better yet, use fresh catalyst whenever possible.
Recommended ratio for fiberglass projects: 12 drops catalyst per ounce of resin.

MOLD RELEASE FOR FIBERGLASS

	HIGH CARNUBA PASTE WAX WITH SILICONE. Use for fiberglass lay up on a fiberglass mold. May be applied immediately after the clean-n-glaze operation.
