LEAD FREE PEWTER
TEACH FOUNDRY WITH LOW TEMP CASTING METAL

High Temp silicone rubber molds allow the student to cast beautiful chess pieces with stunning detail. Originally carved by one of the last, great mystery men of the north woods these designs were rendered in everything from animal bone to tree bark, without the recipient ever seeing who left behind such treasures of craftsmanship. A mystery to this day! Students can add tiny cut-crystal jewels to the eyes and costumes as well as painting the bases opposing colors.
Pewter pieces can be painted flat black and the the highlights enhanced by buffing the paint off with 0000 Steel Wool. Some pewter pieces require assembly. This is easily accomplished by using standard solder and a soldering iron preferably with adjustable temperature controls. The process of soldering small pewter parts requires around 15 watts. It is possible to make your own, custom molds for pewter by using High Temp RTV Silicone 3120. Caution: Avoid all contact between molten pewter and moisture.
